Enjoy this summer-flavored smoothie recipe while you still can.
It’s no secret that watermelon is an all-time favorite summertime fruit. You probably look forward to your first bite of the juicy melon at the season’s first backyard party every year. Besides being delicious, thanks to its high volume of water, it’s both hydrating and low in calories. Watermelon is also packed with the antioxidant lycopene, which gives the fruit its red hue. In fact, it’s one of the highest sources of lycopene out there. (Did you know you can—and should—eat watermelon seeds? No, you won’t grow a watermelon in your belly).
While watermelon is a treat on its own, this delicious fruit also makes for an awesome star ingredient in smoothies. This smoothie recipe contains just four ingredients—watermelon, frozen mango, fresh lime, and agave nectar—making sure all the natural flavors shine through every sip. Plus, fewer ingredients means less time between blending and drinking. Besides being hydrating and healthy, this watermelon-lime smoothie offers up 20 percent of your daily vitamin A, 76 percent of your vitamin C, and 12 percent of your iron.
